Slight Delay in Surgery Date

Good Saturday to you All!

In talking with my Dr.'s office yesterday to ask what time I need to show up for surgery on Monday, I learned that there had been a miscommunication with the scheduling girl. Because of that, we had to reschedule surgery to the following day, Tuesday, November 4th and it will be at the Uiversity hospital rather than Huntsman. That's all for now...happy choring, footballing, camping or whatever else your Saturday holds for you! Love, gf

Hi Gretchen,
Sorry to hear about the dealy in your surgery. These things have a way of working out. It was super to see you at the Navitaire chili cookoff and Halloween Party! If I hadn't read what's happening with you on this blog, I'd never have guessed it from your appearance. You looked wonderful as always. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Adara and I will be at the U of U right next to you on Tuesday. We'll be thinking a lot about you while you go through surgery! Good luck.

Update: So far there are six men shaving their heads and four women chopping their hair off for the cancer research fundraiser I'm doing (that includes me and Dave). We are calling it "The Brave Shave to Save". Two of the women and one man have already chopped and shaved!

We have many people donating money to ACS to sponsor us and we even have a hairstylist who is donating free haircuts, colors, or pedicures to people who donate to the cause (the amount they would normally pay her for the service).

I want you to know I'm doing this because there is nothing I can really do for you except send hope and love and support, but at least a bit of money will go to curing this terrible disease which we all hope someday will not mess with our families and lives.

As you know, I'm working right now doing research in a familial cancer study. Compared to so many cancer victims, you, Gretchy, are a very positive and bright person and even though I'm sure you are discouraged and down at times, I can tell you have a great support system and attitude. Auntie Lin is a wonderful mom who does so much. Your Dad is so rare and beautiful to stay with you so long when the news came. We all love and care about you and hope you will be as comfortable and happy as possible!

You are a survivor. There is no doubt about it!
